Overview

The sky’s brightest stars still carry Arabic names, yet constellation mythology is rarely told in Arabic. Urania pairs the hand-coloured engravings of Urania’s Mirror (London, 1824) with the Greek myth behind every figure — seven story chapters, a beginner path, star-name flashcards, a history timeline from Babylon to the IAU, an arcade of learning games, and an hourly-refreshed feed of important astronomy events. Every page ships in English and Modern Standard Arabic with full RTL.

The Challenge

Constellation storytelling barely exists in Arabic — even though most bright-star names (Aldebaran, Deneb, Altair…) are Arabic in origin — and myth guides are static text with no way to practise or stay current with the sky.

Our Solution

A statically generated Next.js 16 site with per-locale routes and full per-page SEO (hreflang, JSON-LD, Open Graph plates), GSAP starfield storytelling, three learning games, and an ISR news feed that filters the Spaceflight News API down to genuinely important sky events.

Results

Live at urania.vercel.app and open source on GitHub: 35 static pages, full EN/AR parity, and the Arabic star-name heritage placed at the centre of the story.
